The
presentation of the original iPhone was special because it was packed
with surprises and entertainment. It was literally like watching a great
movie. The keynote evoked so many emotions like joy, surprise, fun and
astonishment. It was more than just information. There was no way you
could predict what was coming next (not like todays keynotes).
First
off, Steve fooled the entire audience. Everyone expected a phone to be
presented, but then Steve started to announce 3 new products. We all
know this bit. As he revealed the iPhone to be all these 3 devices in
one the audience went nuts. Nobody did expect this turnaround.
He also threw in some jokes as he revealed the ‘joke iPhone’ with the famous click wheel
Or the way he famously asked ‘Who wants a stylus?’
And don't forget the iconic Star Bucks prank call, which since then was copied by many random people.
But
the features he revealed were most important. There was no need for
special effects or techniques, since the device itself brought the
magic. For example Multi Touch or the scrolling feature amazed everyone.
Combined
with Steve Jobs charismatic stage presence, this keynote had to be
nothing but special. He came up on stage with his turtleneck and
sneakers like it was no big deal.
